My Favorite (Marriage) Tip

Awhile back I was spending some time reading Too Darn Happy and I noticed her link to No Ordinary Blog Hop. I think my husband is rubbing off on me because I clicked on the link and went off on an adventure! WooHoo! (you can find some of the most amazing sites and blogs that way)

Anyhow, the upshot of it is that I joined the blog hop and I’m having fun reading other blogs and once a month I’m going to try and write something for their monthly theme page.

This month’s theme?

What is your favorite tip?

Well, I’m going to fudge a bit and write about my favorite marriage tip (something I say to any soon-to-be-married couple (and really anyone who will listen to me)).

Be friends.

Yup, that’s it. Build an ongoing friendship with your husband. Play together. Work together. Laugh together. Make time for each other and share your life. Problems are easier to face and deal with when you are friends. It’s easier to give and receive forgiveness from someone that you believe has your back. You go to your friends with your troubles, your fears, your hopes and your dreams. Make sure that your spouse is a friend. Grow together so that you stay together.

A friend loves at all times …  Proverbs 17:17 ESV

My current favorite tip comes from the Romantic Vineyard. I am paraphrasing but it is basically this: You are responsible for your own happiness but treat your spouse as though their happiness depended on you.

  2. So true!
We recently were talking about how all of the friendhip verses in God’s Word also apply to marriage…
