Be Gracious, Not Grumpy

While on the cruise I had the opportunity to see a number of individuals, couples, and groups in action.

There was a table near ours at dinner time that seated a group of friends. They were pleasant and there was a lot of laughter going on, such a delightful group. I would love to have had the opportunity to get to know them better and hear their personal stories. Who wouldn’t want to be their friend?

Be Gracious, Not Grumpy - Who would you rather be?

Contrast that with the gal at the Guest Services desk who was determined to be angry and critical. Her words were sharp and hurtful. She made everyone miserable and didn’t get what she wanted (something rather unreasonable, I thought). And, apparently, she spent most of the cruise that way (a friends of ours had a run in with her too).

Now, I understand there are appropriate times to be upset or say tough things, but as a lifestyle it’s pretty miserable for everyone involved.

Life is too short and beautiful to spend it “grumpy” when you can enjoy life and those you love by being “gracious.”

♥ Who do you think had the happier marriages and friendships?
♥ Who would you like to hang with?
♥ More importantly, who would you rather be like?

Be gracious, not grumpy.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12 NIV
