We’re finishing up November and moving into December and the Christmas holiday season.
Grab your sweetie and ask him about his obligations at work and among friends. Does he need to get any gifts? How about munchies for the office party? Mark any events on your calendar so they don’t sneak up on either of you.
Offer to help where you can. Make his holiday season a little easier.

One thing your husband may need, if he’s a combat veteran, is to be shielded from the sentimentality of Christmas.
There are things that some of us can’t handle any more; walking through a mall or a WalMart, with the Christmas songs playing and the decorations sparling, is such a jarring contrast with what’s in my heart and memory that it becomes an ordeal.
If you see a grown man picking out presents for young nieces and nephews while weeping uncontrollably, chances are he’s a combat vet, and he might be me.
Barb had thought it might be something nice for me to do, and I was wiling to try. But we both realized that this was something that should never happen again.
A low-key Christmas, focused on the true meaning, may indeed be best. eschew the parties and the parades, and read Luke together.
