A Change in Plans

A few days ago I asked my husband for our travel dates in November so I could put them in my bullet journal. (I’m so looking forward to the marriage intensive training.)

There had been some changes in when we were to go and somehow we thought we were headed out the middle of the month. We looked up the dates and checked our plane tickets. Well, turns out … I’m on a plane all day today flying from Washington state to Pennsylvania.

We did an immediate assessment and went into minimal mode. What absolutely had to be done before we headed out? Pretty much laundry, packing, and setting up posts for our week away. Everything else got put on hold or canceled. It was a scramble.

And because I can turn ‘most anything into a blog post, how do you handle a hard left turn in the plans for your day? Can you respond graciously? Can you be practical and think through what needs to be done or do you play the blame game?

Life will never happen in a string of neat little events. Think through how you will respond to the twists and turns of everyday life. Be a helpful friend, calm partner, and gracious forgiver in those moments.

The most successful people are those who are good at plan B.  James A. Yorke
