I’ve mentioned that my sweetie and I are both reading New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp as a devotional. We don’t usually read it together (though we could), but we do tend to discuss it during the day if something stands out to us.
I love the exchange of ideas that comes from discussing a shared book. It puts us on the same page (pun intended) and helps us share what we believe and what God is teaching us. It’s an intimacy builder and an encouragement to grow in our walk with the Lord.

I suppose you could do the same thing with any shared experience … a book, a movie, or a vacation trip together. Talk, reflect, share what stood out to you, etc.
We had a shared experience. That makes a good marriage better. George W. Bush

I wish that we could sit and talk,
but we’ve each now a different tongue
informed by a different walk
that for me has turned into a run.
Her life now spins around work,
and church, and wonderful friends
while I am impaled on a dirk,
and the pain simply never ends.
The cancer that fillets my soul
has a practised effect om me;
I cannot stay here and stay whole
with a foot in Eternity.
So we pass as two ships in the night,
each to its separate light.
