I’ve been working through 52 Weeks to an Organized Home. It’s been an interesting study in how Paul and I use the space we have.
A part of the process involves understanding the purpose of a room and doing what we need to do to facilitate that purpose.
For example, we socialize in our “living room” (I say that with quotes because I live in a fifth wheel RV and the living room, dining room, kitchen, and office are all in one open area. We have to create “rooms” or spaces by how we place the furniture and items.) If we want room for people to sit, we can’t have a lot of stuff and clutter in the “living room.” We need comfortable seats and a place to set a cup of coffee or tea. The stack of papers needs to go to the office area and the toys for the grandkids need to be pared down and tucked out of the way when not in use.

Beyond the set up for function (making it actually possible), you want comfort and beauty. It’s an interesting dance to pull that all together in a way that works for both Paul and me (with our individual personal tastes).
All this rambling to say, our homes need to serve the people who live there. What areas of your home could use a little dejunking? Does each room serve its purpose well? Are there comfortable places that make you and your husband feel at home? What little thing could you do today to make your home feel more relaxing?
The ultimate luxury is being able to relax and enjoy your home. Jeff Lincoln
