If you listen carefully, from time to time, you will hear your husband wish for something. He’ll mention a book he wants to read or he may talk about a fun time he had camping a few years back.
He might not start his sentence with, “I wish,” but if you listen carefully you can hear wistfulness or desire.

Can you play into those wishes?
Sometimes you can do something immediately (grab him a copy of that book), but other times you may need time to plan and save (a camping trip over Spring break?).
Listen to the tone of his voice. What does he mention in conversation?
Make his wish come true.

I cannot wish for earthly things,
so I will wish for this,
that in the beat of angel-wings,
I will find a bliss
surpassing understanding,
surpassing all I comprehend,
and as angels now are landing
my knee will thereby bend
not to them, but to the One
who follows in their course
the Risen Lamb, the only Son,
who healed the Great Divorce
by His pain upon the Cross
that not a one need be lost.

Andrew, that’s an amazingly beautiful poem. Thank you.
