Stories – M1

It’s the last Sunday of the month and time for a story!

My son married the sweetest gal and together they made two of the cutest children. In sharing about them online I call them M1 and M2.

To M1 each day is an adventure. He’s amazed by everything he sees from rainbows to frogs to the texture of tree bark. He asks bazillions of questions and gives good hug.

Last summer when we moved our fifth-wheel to a permanent pad, by end of day we were pretty exhausted so we put up temporary steps (planning to set up the permanent porch and steps the next day). Well, a porch platform is a little boy’s dream and sure enough, he climbed up on it and began to dance. He threw his little boy body into it, bending and twisting, throwing his arms up and around in an amazingly graceful dance. There wasn’t a lick of selfconsciousness and it was the most joyous thing I think I have ever seen.

Sometimes I take life too seriously and I let trouble and responsibilities weigh me down. I need that little booger to remind me of things like joy, beauty, adventure, and delight. I want to be amazed by seeds sprouting and marvel at the beauty of a rock. And, hopefully, in heaven, I will be graceful enough to pull off something like that amazing dance of his.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14 NIV

  • Couple’s Question: You have a large driveway and a mess of chalk. What do you write/draw?
