Grant Me Patience

I’ve been praying for patience lately. I know, folks warn you not to because God may send you circumstances where you need to develop patience. I figure I have more than enough of those right now. You too?

I’ve been caring more for my grandkids (so my DIL can deal with some health issues). I had forgotten how much patience it takes to deal with preschoolers. I need patience for dealing with stressed people and my slower-than-a-slug Internet.

I need patience for slow checkout lines or waiting for ordered items in the mail. I need patience for seeds to germinate (I’m an impatient gardener) and bunnies to be born. The list seems to be getting longer by the day.

That said I am grateful for all the good in my life and I don’t want to be ungrateful in those situations that require a bit of patience and grace.

So my prayer today (for you and me) is for patience.

Patience is the companion of wisdom. Augustine of Hippo

    I recall when my children were small praying for “a gentle and quiet spirit.” It helped me respond differently to them so much of the time. I think I prayed this daily for YEARS!! Now in caring for grand s 50 hours a week, I am praying it again! Thank you for the reminder that we need patience above and beyond in these days.

  2. I’ve got no time for patience;
    I am hell’s bad news;
    the demons flee their stations,
    the devil sings the blues.
    He thought he could defeat me,
    make me cry and cower,
    but the b****** did not see
    I’m hooked into the power
    that takes back the stolen loot,
    that locks Old Nick in mighty chains,
    that crushes serpents under foot,
    and PSHT! out squirt their brains.
    So dude, let’s ride, take a good grip,
    ’cause it’s time to let things rip.
