Pause

I mentioned I was reading Get Your Life Back by John Eldredge.

His basic premise is that we are all doing life at a crazy distracted pace and that is detrimental to our relationship with God, our relationships with others, and our overall wellbeing. His solution is a pause.

Pause.

Just reading that word makes me realize how busy and busy-minded I still am. I’ve been working on margin for a few years now and really trying to build a sane pace for my life (for goodness sake, I even have a day off each week!).

It surprised me how something as simple as a small pause could reveal how tense I still am as I go through my day, how worried I am about this and that, and how much I miss in life because I still have a busy mindset.

So, I have been taking small breaks during my day to pause and in that pause I hand everything off to Him and spend a moment soaking in His presence.

If this sounds like something you hunger for, I encourage you to get a copy of Get Your Life Back and … pause. (Need a bit more help? Download the app. Pause)

My soul just can’t do life at the speed of smartphones. But I was asking it to; everybody’s asking theirs to. John Eldredge, Get Your Life Back

And for those who asked: Paul uses three tea bags of TAZO Sweet Orange Tea to 1 quart of boiling water. Let it steep for at least 10 minutes, add the sweetener of your choice (we use stevia), and pour over an additional quart of ice and tuck in your fridge. There you have it. Simple and yummy.
