Well, we finally got spring and a bit of summer here in Washington. Everything’s growing and we’re praying for no more freezes (which can actually happen in June).

Life is still a bit strange because of self-distancing. I miss church and friends and shopping (the real kind of take-your-time shopping). I’ve had a few friends catch COVID-19. They had a couple of rough weeks, but they are on the mend (I am so grateful). A handful of local businesses have reopened and we’re trying to remember to support them when we shop. Public life is wobbly but slowly getting better in my little corner of the world.
Spiritual Growth –
My devotional (Live in Grace, Walk in Love) is a daily encouragement. It’s so good I look forward to it and I rarely miss a day. I’ve had a few readings that were so impactful that I read them several days running to get them down in my heart.
My Bible study/doing is still going strong. It’s challenging to read the Word and put it into action in my life. Lovin’ it.
I did finish Get Your Life Back by John Eldredge and I’ve been practicing the “pause” as often as I think of it (it’s my current substitute for meditation). And I’m still journaling my prayers in Trello.
Marriage –
I have to tell y’all, Paul and I both have been struggling a bit. It feels like we are walking through mud and we have to work harder than normal just to get the basics done. I’m guessing it’s all the stress from the previous months. That said, we are trying to be kind to ourselves. We’re intentional about being helpful, being present, having regular sex, getting good sleep, and generally doing those things that build us up.
The bucket list is on hold.
Family and Friends –
I did get to have actual coffee with an actual friend (She’s one of the folks who survived COVID-19). We met at her office, talked our faces off, and drank lots of coffee. It was lovely.

I have been spending more time helping with the grandkids. My DIL hurt her leg so everyone is helping out chasing the littlest one and making sure they get fed, bathed, etc..
Family night is a gift, but everyone is pretty tired (the guys on the property got to go back to work recently), so we eat, talk a bit about life, and then head home.
Personal / Emotional –
No art or music this month (yes, that’s a red flag).
However, this month has been filled with bunnies and gardening. I have 32 rabbits (with 3 litters on the way). I did manage to sell a few bunnies (and have some other interested folk). My DIL and I are combining all our weaned bunnies in a large fenced area for the summer (a trial run at raising bunnies in a colony).

Physical –
I’m doing pretty well with all the physical habits, though I tend not to do my exercise program on days I work outside.
Occupational / Vocational –
I’m still plugging away at improving The Marriage Bed site.
I do my writing for The Generous Wife mostly in the mornings (with coffee). :)
Meemaw’s Place is limping along. I’ve been giving some thought to where I want the blog to go. It’s certainly a personal blog, but do I want to offer certain resources? Just thinkin’.
Financial / Office –
I created an organizer for all incoming papers. So far it’s working well. No more paper piles and I can find what I need easily. {happy dance} My email got a bit out of control one week, but most of the time I keep it under 10. I’m current on bookkeeping.
Trello has been an interesting adventure. The last ultimate bundle had gardening helps including a Trello gardening board. It’s working out pretty well and next year will be so much easier with all my organized gardening notes.
Physical Environment –
I’d say I’m doing a fair job of housework. I’m still working through 52 Weeks to an Organized Home and there are more and more spots that are clean and clear (I just organized all the household appliance manuals).
My husband and son will be ordering metal for the our roof this next week. Very soon I will be the proud owner of a forest green roof. :)
Our peach tree didn’t make it and I am still waiting for my order of trees. (Apparently there was a rush on plants so nurseries are overwhelmed.)
Well, that’s it’s for May. Looking forward to more sunshine.
People look at me like I’m a little strange, when I go around talking to squirrels and rabbits and stuff. That’s ok. That’s just ok. Bob Ross
