Everyone is both beautiful and broken.
We are amazing creations made in the image of God (beautiful) and yet we still struggle with a sin nature and personal wounds (broken).

When you say “I do” you are marrying someone who is both beautiful and broken. They are a package deal.
There is a cost to any relationship. You love and adore all the good that your spouse brings to the table, but there is also the ongoing struggle to deal with their personal wounds, bad habits, and selfishness.
I share this to put it all in perspective. In this lifetime we will have to deal with brokenness in every relationship (both our own and theirs). Be careful not to let that brokenness overshadow the beautiful. Be aware of it, yes. Deal with it, yes. Make forgiveness your friend and stay invested in your marriage.
Your spouse is worth the cost.
We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses. Alphonse Karr
