Believe the Best

Recently I’ve had a few folks do things that were inconvenient for me, even a bit hurtful on the surface.

Thankfully, I know these people and they are good-hearted. It was easy for me to give them the benefit of the doubt. They just didn’t think it through. It was a moment of human carelessness or simply they couldn’t have known the impact of their actions. We’ve all been there done that.

It did give me pause though. Do I offer my husband that same kind of understanding? He’s good-hearted and his intention is to bless me. Do I give him the benefit of the doubt?

Love chooses to believe the best about people. It gives them the benefit of the doubt. It refuses to fill in the unknowns with negative assumptions. Stephen Kendrick
