Way Back Wednesday – Sometimes Sex is Like Yellowstone Nat’l Park

(Originally posted on July 8, 2017.)

Yesterday I wrote about visiting Yellowstone National Park. What I didn’t tell y’all is that I was dog tired. It was the last stop on our trip home and I was ready to be home.

A little history…

Both sets of our parents have worked and spent time in Yellowstone. There are memories and stories galore. It holds a special place in Paul’s heart especially. I knew he wanted to show me all the lovely places in the park, share memories, and make new ones.

So I said yes. Even though I was tired. Even though I wanted to be home. Even though it wasn’t my first choice.

Paul is my first choice and I want to honor his sense of adventure and joy. I also knew I would enjoy the time, find many beautiful sites, and create the aforementioned new memories.

It was a small sacrifice on my part that I knew would have great returns for Paul (it’s a special place for him) and me too! (I love beautiful places and there are few things I love more than seeing my man have fun and adventure.)

The reason for the title of this post is that some days your husband will get that twinkle in his eye when you’re on the tired side. He wants to create a few new memories and you’re ready to turn in.

Remind yourself that sometimes sex is like Yellowstone National Park. Then say yes. Even though you’re tired. Even though you rather just snuggle in bed. Even though it’s not your first choice.

Remind yourself that your husband is your first choice and it’s a small sacrifice that will have great returns for both of you.

Self-sacrifice is the real miracle out of which all the reported miracles grow. Ralph Waldo Emerson
