Serious Talk

Hi, y’all. Pull up a chair. Let’s have a serious talk.

Marriage is a covenant relationship that’s meant to be lifelong. Sadly there are those who break their promise of fidelity and the fallout is painful and confusing.

Biblically, the person who has been wronged may divorce, but may I encourage those in this situation to pause and prayerfully consider God’s ability to redeem and restore.

I do understand that I’m suggesting you walk down a difficult road (and I do know that not every marriage can be saved). Restoration is usually a painful and complex journey. However, if both spouses are willing to work together it may be the better choice. Divorce has serious repercussions for all involved. If the marriage can be mended, you will be saving everyone a lot of grief and showcasing God’s amazing ability to breathe life into a dying marriage.

If you find yourself in such a situation because of your own or your spouse’s infidelity (physical affair, emotional affair, porn/erotica use), I encourage you to not go it alone. Become educated and build a community of supportive people who will walk with you through the restoration process.

I bring all this to y’all today because Bonny of OysterBed7 has made me aware of a good resource in dealing with infidelity. A team of fine folk through Awesome Marriage has created The Online Affair Recovery Course.

Thanks for this message! I am a survivor of infidelity and God won! Praising God for a healed marriage! Celebrating 33 years of marriage August 29th.( 15 years post infidelity )

  2. This is a great message.

Too many spouses are quick to end a marriage after infidelity. God can restore.

    • I always encourage couples to take a fair amount of time before deciding what to do. In the immediate hurt of infidelity, it’s too easy to jump ship. Pause. Pray. Take what time you need to hear from God about the situation.

Is this course designed for couples, or is it just for the one who is healing after a betrayal?

If I’m reading the titles correctly, it sounds like it’s just for the one… on top of everything else why do I feel like I’m doing all the work? He does the bare minimum…. not much motivation to stay and let God shine 🥺
