It’s the last Sunday of the month and time for a story.
Years ago Paul and I brushed elbows with Tim and Anne Evans. They were also in marriage ministry and we just hit it off, quickly becoming friends.
When we traveled we made sure to stop by and visit. We always enjoyed our time with them, swapping stories, and encouraging each other.
One of my favorite stories told by Tim is how he, as a gruff old retired deputy fire chief, decided that he needed to “be kinder.” He determined to learn about kindness and face-off his normal gruffness. When he talked about his journey I could hardly believe him. He’s one of the sweetest kindest men I know and I couldn’t imagine him all gruff and grumpy.

I’d say he made his goal.
Recently, Tim left this world and went to live with Jesus. It was unexpected by us, but I’m pretty sure Jesus was waiting for him with party hats and his favorite munchies. PAAAARRTY!!
I’m going to miss Tim.
May we pick up his legacy of kindness, spread it around a bit, and pass it on.
When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people. Abraham Joshua Heschel
