… time for my annual holiday rant.
God is very clear – when we marry, we LEAVE our home of origin and CLEAVE to our spouse, creating a new family and home.
This, of course, does not mean we stop loving or respecting our parents, it just means our spouse and our marriage relationship takes precedence over any other relationships, even those we have with parents or other family members.

In practical terms during the holidays, it means we take into consideration what is good for our spouse, we stand up for our spouse if a family member gets out of line, and we don’t ask our spouse to be someone they are not at family gatherings.
I realize this can make for some stresses and strains during the holiday season, but I strongly encourage you to highly value your husband and your marriage during the coming holidays.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, ad they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:24 NKJV
