Way Back Wednesday – A Time to Give

(Originally posted on November 26, 2017.)

Do you and your husband talk about giving? Do you look for opportunities to give and discuss how much?

Giving together is an incredible way to build intimacy. You learn what tugs on the heartstrings of your spouse. You learn about their values.

Why not grab your sweetie every so often and talk about giving.

What needs are you aware of? What people and ministries touch your heart? If you are a part of a local body of believers, can you give to support those who serve? Online there are many opportunities to give. (November 28th is Giving Tuesday, a day created to encourage generosity and inspire charitable giving.)

Aside from ministries, there are likely to be folks who could use a little help with food or gifts. And don’t forget the non-money kinds of giving. There are lonely folks that would love to share a meal with your family or that could use a hand shoveling snow off their walkway. Gifts of kindness (let a car into traffic on a busy day) and gifts of grace (forgive that rascally relative of yours) are especially good.

As the year comes to a close, take the time to talk about giving and what that might look like for you and your husband.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21 ESV
