His and Hers Feelings

I’m pretty tuned into my feelings. I know when I’m happy, sad, or mad. However, sometimes that’s all I see or take into account. A definite marriage fail.

As a kindness, it helps to tune into your husband’s feelings too. Life happens for both of you and if you are going to walk together in life, it’s good to make room for each other’s feelings.

When something happens, think it through (ask a few questions if you need to). How will it impact him? How will he feel about this loss, that change, or just the tenor of his day?

Feelings shouldn’t play ruler, but how you BOTH feel needs to be a part of the equation of how you deal with life as a couple.

Respect other people’s feelings. It might mean nothing to you, but it could mean everything to them. Roy T. Bennett

  1. Please don’t ask about my feelings,
    even though you truly care,
    for these simply aren’t the dealings
    that I would be glad to share.
    Please don’t inquire as to deep
    thoughts you think that I might harbour;
    if they’re there they’re mine to keep
    in a locked and darkened larder.
    Please accept the things I say,
    and do not try to pry beneath;
    words always get in the way
    and in the end I’ll grind my teeth
    and we’ll have a blazing row,
    a path we didn’t have to go.
