Practical Paperwork

Much of life is just practical stuff. You run to the grocery store to shop for meal ingredients. Did you move the laundry from the washer to the dryer? Where is the receipt for the car repair?

If your household systems work well, life runs more smoothly. If they don’t, life can run a little rough and who needs that?

I’m getting ready to work on my 2020 financial information. I have to make sure that all my ducks are neatly in a row and run reports for folks. Then everything gets tucked in a file.

Each year I try to learn to do a little better. I did better at organizing our housing expenses on a spreadsheet and I found that weekly work sessions helped me stay on top of everything. If I have a mystery receipt it’s easier to remember what we did last week instead of last month.

What did you learn in 2020 about your paperwork systems? Did you chase receipts or did you have a place to drop them off? Are you doing OK with financial records or do you need to hire an accountant this year? Do you know where your will is? Do you have a place for incoming mail or is it scattered around the house?

Find a moment to talk to your sweetie about paperwork. What do you need to do to make your household paperwork functional for the both of you? (Need a little help with your paper bits? How to Set Up a Household Filing System) Reduce some of the stress in your world.

What the world really needs is more love and less paperwork. Author Unknown
