Humility

❤ ❤ ❤ 13 days to Valentine’s Day! ❤ ❤ ❤

Let people speak into your life (in person, in books, podcasts, etc.).

You don’t have to believe everything they say (really and truly), but keep a corner of your mind open to new ideas or ideas that will challenge what you believe.

I say the latter because we don’t do life perfectly and some of what we believe can be wrong or at least not helpful to a healthy life and marriage. If you never listen to others, then you are stuck in what you wrongly believe. (And, no, it’s never really comfortable to acknowledge your belief is wrong but isn’t it wonderful to find something better, take it to heart, and make your life better?)

Be excited when you learn something better or true. It will make a lovely difference in your life.

The secret to being wrong isn’t to avoid being wrong! The secret is being willing to be wrong. The secret is realizing that wrong isn’t fatal. Seth Godin

One response to “Humility”

  1. Humility’s my middle name,
and in its spotlight I stand tall
to accept the cheers and fame,
knowing I’m the best of all
at pushing out the sin of pride,
at turning from its friend, conceit,
    leaving them nowhere to hide,
for, my friend, I’ve got ’em beat
    by my boundless modesty
and meekness that will break the band.
    humble in my majesty
    that I alone do understand
the puzzles of this mortal life,
except the thinking of my wife.
