Respecting your spouse’s differences doesn’t mean ignoring bad habits or letting your spouse always have their way. It just means that it’s helpful to be aware of and make reasonable room for those things you do differently.
I’m a neatnik and Paul is a creative messy. Neither is “right” or “wrong,” but we still have to talk about it and decide how to handle the friction that comes from doing life differently.

Paul’s a night owl and I’m flexible. For most of our lives we’ve stayed up late, but lately, I’ve been having trouble sleeping, and going to bed a little earlier has made a difference. There’s no real “right” or “wrong” to the situation, just some willingness to love each other and help each other out.
Where do you and your husband do things differently? Can you respectfully talk it through and come up with some loving workarounds?
We are all different, which is great because we are all unique. Without diversity life would be very boring. Catherine Pulsifer
